Pale straw yellow colour. In nose it is on the way between albariño flavours and godello tasting. This unique and promising grape discover us a variety of aromas from citrus and white flowers to mild touchs of quince and green apple.

Color amarillo pajizo. En nariz está a medio camino entre la nariz albariño y el gusto de la godello. Esta uva singular y prometedora nos descubre un abanico de olores que van de los cítricos y flores blancas hasta suaves toques de membrillo y manzana verde.

However, in mouth it tricks: it is wider than expected, oily and glyceride, with a balanced, not disturbing at all acidity and a surprising aftertaste for a wine without having rest with its lees.

En boca sin embargo engaña: es más amplio de lo esperado, untuoso y glicérico con una acidez equilibrada y nada molesta y un posgusto soprendente para no haber sido trabajado con sus lías.

Peregrino Albarín is white wine, a single variety from Gordonzello Winery (Tierra de León DO) made with the recovered albarín grape.

As usual, María brought the best wines for value to her customers. The first one was a real discovery: Peregrino Albarín from Gordonzello Winery, located in Bierzo DO although this wine is marketed like a wine from Tierra de León DO. It is made with peregrino variety, a rare variety recently recovered in this area. Surprising fresh white with nice aromas of tropical fruit and a bit of complexity in mouth. The wine delighted our guests.

Como siempre, María trajo los mejores vinos en relación calidad/precio para sus clientes. El primero fue un verdadero descubrimiento: Peregrino Albarín de la Bodega Gordonzello, situada en la DO Bierzo, aunque este vino se comercializa como vino de la DO Tierra de León. Se elabora con la variedad peregrino, una rara uva recientemente recuperada en esta zona. Un blanco sorprendente y fresco con agradables aromas a fruta tropical y cierta complejidad en boca. El vino deleitó a nuestros invitados.

The second wine was the humble but excellent Ojos del Guadiana, a french coupage from Cooperativa el Progreso Winery (La Mancha DO). You can read more about this wine here:

We paired it with the delicious style of Lecrin Valley pumpkin with pieces of toast and quail eggs. A dish praised by all the guests. 

Lo maridamos con la deliciosa calabaza estilo "Valle de Lecrín" con tostas y huevos de codorniz. Un plato alabado por todos los invitados.

For pairing the main dish, loin in bitter sauce of yogurt with baked potatoes, María had chosen a red from Cariñena, Urbezo Crianza. Made with merlot, cabernet sauvignon and grenache and aged for 10 months in both American and French barrel, it is a well-balanced red wine from one of the best wineries of this booming region.

Para maridar el plato principal, lomo en salsa amarga de yogur con patatas panaderas, María había escogido un tinto de Cariñena: Urbezo Crianza. Elaborado con merlot, cabernet sauvignon y garnacha y envejecido durante diez meses en roble francés y americano es un vino equilibrado de una de las mejores bodegas de esta pujante DO.

The dessert: the time for enjoying one of the surprises of the tasting, a safe bet for the quality. Late harvest Príncipe de Viana. Our guests could taste it paired with a brownie with syrup noir and apple compote. Delicious mix!!

As always the tasting, after the questions, the explanations, the meal and the wines tasted, was sliding to a friends meeting. That is our goal. The time after the coffe was short so we all stood willing of new tastings and evenings like that.

Como siempre la cata, tras las preguntas, las explicaciones, la comida y los vinos catados, se fue deslizando hacia una reunión de amigos. Ese es nuestro objetivo. El rato después del café fue breve y todos nos quedamos con ganas de nuevas catas y tardes como esa.

Last week we attended the 8th Show of Wine and Gastronomy Ciudad de Granada in Luna de Granada hotel. There several wineries presented their wines in Granada. 

La semana pasada acudimos al VIII Salón del vino y la gastronomía Ciudad de Granada en el hotel Luna de Granada. Allí varias bodegas presentaron sus vinos en Granada.

María Córdoba tasted the albariños from Pazo Pondal, good quality whites. Specially Leira Pondal. They also have a winery in La Rioja: Medrano roble, Medrano crianza, Selección familiar y Amador Medrano.

From Utiel-Requena DO, the Chozas Carrascal winery offered us Roxane. Also the white Las dos Ces, drinkable, easy wine, very marketeable. Among the reds Las dos Ces and Las 8. We would like thank their sales manager his attentive care.
