Manuel Losada is above all a wine lover: wine-producer, enologist, professor of viticulture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, former member of the Control Board of Valdeorras. After the practical classes to become sommelier at the Spanish School of Tasting in Madrid, he invited us to visit him in O Barco, Valdeorras, Orense. There he owns several little vineyards where he cultivate the mencía and godello varieties, among others.
Manuel Losada es, por encima de todo, un enamorado del vino: bodeguero, enólogo, profesor de viticultura de la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, antiguo miembro del Consejo Regulador de Valdeorras. Tras las clases prácticas para sumiller en la Escuela Española de Cata de Madrid, nos invitó a visitarlo en O Barco, Valdeorras, Orense. Allí posee varios pequeños viñedos donde cultiva las variedades godello y mencía, entre otras.
During a long weekend we could harvest from early in the morning to the dawn, visit the winery, have a lunch with Manuel's lovely family and friends, attend a party organized by the rural women of Entoma, listen to the sweet Galician language, taste the wines and eat Galician octopus and pie...Great!!!
A lo largo de un largo fin de semana pudimos vendimiar desde primera hora de la mañana hasta el atardecer, visitar la bodega, almorzar con la encantadora familia de Manuel, asistir a una romería organizada por las mujeres rurales de Entoma, escuchar la dulce lengua gallega, probar los vinos y comer pulpo gallego y empanada...Fantástico!!!

That night, party in a little village, Entoma. Tasting red wines from Roandi winery, where Manuel Losada develops his wisdom. We met Rogelio, the owner, and his lovely family, nice people to talk with all the night. All the people made us feel like at home.
Esa noche, fiesta en un pequeño pueblo, Entoma. Probando los tintos de la bodega Roandi, donde Manuel Losada aplica su sabiduría. Conocimos a Rogelio, el propietario, y su encantadora familia, gente estupenda con la que charlar toda la noche. Todo el mundo nos hizo sentir como en casa.

The following day, we went on harvesting, this time godello variety in a vineyard located in a beautiful valley, very close to the ancient Roman road of Nova, that connected Astorga and Braga, in Portugal.
Al día siguiente, continuamos con la vendimia, esta vez la variedad godello en un viñedo situado en un hermoso valle, muy próximo a la antigua vía romana Nova, que conectaba Astorga con Braga en Portugal.
