The second edition of this wine contest had been developed during the winter in Granada, organized and directed by the sommelier José Gutiérrez Ruz. The final phase, the contest itself took place in the restaurant María de la O on 18th february.
La segunda edición de este certamen de cata de vinos se ha ido desarrollando durante el invierno en Granada, organizada y dirigida por el sumiller José Antonio Gutiérrez Ruz. La fase final, el certamen en sí mismo tuvo lugar en el restaurante María de la O el pasado domingo 18 de febrero.
The participants, amateurs and professionals, had to identify several items: grape variety, DO, winery, type of wine... in a blind tasting.
Los participantes, aficionados y profesionales, tuvieron que identificar varios items: variedad de uva, DO, bodega, clase de vino... en una cata a ciegas.
The winner was the sommelier Álvaro Jiménez, from the staff of the restaurant La Fábula. The second prize, was for Beatrice Henriksson from El Doce bar restaurant and Pedro Ortega from Tellus Magna oils was awarded the third prize. The first award was given by the winner in the last year edition (from Taberna Los Luises)
El ganador fue el sumiller Álvaro Jiménez, del staff del restaurante La Fábula. El segundo premio fue para Beatrice Henriksson del bar restaurante El Doce y Pedro Ortega, de aceites Tellus Magna, consiguió el tercer premio. El primer premio fue entregado por el ganador en la edición del año pasado (de la Taberna Los Luises)
Following the contest there was a great tasting where the attendants could taste more than 100 high quality wines.
A continuación del concurso se realizó una gran cata en la que los asistentes pudieron catar más de 100 vinos de alta calidad.
Members of the jury: on the right Antonio López de la Casa, well known winemaker, the Presidente of the Association of Sommeliers of Andalusia and the co-owner of La Tana, one of the best bars in Granada focused in wine.
